Right Person For The Job

Not satisfied with your job? Tough. Not seeing any room for advancement? Boo hoo. Not being given a position commensurate with your abilities and qualifications? Nobody cares. Got a no-show job that is so boring that even not showing up has become overwhelmingly tedious? Now that's something to worry about. Not showing up is a challenge. It is, if done properly, a great art form. Some of our greatest leaders and thinkers have excelled at no-show jobs, but only after years of hard work, dedication, and intense preparation. Many people know that Albert Einstein was a patent clerk in Switzerland for many years. But did you know that he had a job as a toll collector on the New Jersey Turnpike for the last ten years of his life? And that he showed up only one day? And that was only because he got lost. And what about Thomas Edison? We all know about his long, arduous work leading to the invention of the light bulb. But that was nothing compared to his tortuous years of not showing up for his job as batting instructor for the New York Yankees. You think Babe Ruth would have ever become the Sultan of Swat if Thomas Edison had shown up every day to show him how to hit a fast ball? Yes, Einstein and Edison were great, but the greatest of all time has to be that amazing woman, Amelia Earhart. Talk about not showing up! That, my friends, is how it's done.
